IMPACT AND PRODUCTION COMPANY OF THE YEAR. MEET THE NEW CATEGORIES.

We are happy to introduce the new category IMPACT.
IMPACT was created to truly honor the power of filmic storytelling in a world that needs unity and respect more than ever. Films entered in IMPACT need to address local and/or global social and/or economic issues. They need to be understood as a creative statement for a better world. Better in terms of more equal, more moral and more open minded. Films that will be awarded with IMPACT are meant to be a driver of communication, discussion and dialogue. They should provoke a conversation within our community and beyond. They need to be written and executed with the highest standards in craft. 

Furthermore, we are paying our respects to the many amazing production companies with the new recognition award PRODUCTION COMPANY OF THE YEAR. In a highly competitive market, production companies are the engine, the heart and soul of creating filmic masterpieces – and a lot of them do an outstanding job, from the first contact to the final delivery. This new recognition award celebrates the most successful production company at the annual DIE KLAPPE awards. The wining company can call itself DIE KLAPPE PRODUCTION COMPANY OF THE YEAR.

EASIER. BETTER. FRESHER. WE HAVE NEW CATEGORIES.

First things first, all your beloved categories are still there plus 3 new ones! However, we have restructured the categories, this will surely make the whole entering process more relaxed and satisfying for everyone.

One new sub-category within ONLINE is “short format”. This honors the growing demand and popularity for ultra short moving images formats. 

“Image film” is now part of PR and “special media” part of DIGITAL EXPERIENCE. But that’s not all, we are also happy to introduce one brand new category and one new recognition award.

All eyes to the screen. Time’s up for mediocre films, with sloppy casting and careless direction – the fight for view time and the growing confidence of creatives all over the country to make great films, has pushed German commercial films to a never seen before level of greatness. These films are made to be seen – the are unignorable. 

MAKE THEM STARE. Reflects that attitude. DIE KLAPPE honors filmic pieces that you cannot unsee. We want everyone to stare – not just watch. We want our target audience to stare, our peers and competitors, our fellow creatives, DoPs and directors ... we want Germany and the world to feel the power of excellent film making. Made in Germany, but creatives from all over the world.

YES, WE SPEAK ENGLISH. BUT IT WILL ALWAYS BE DIE KLAPPE.

DIE KLAPPE opens a new chapter, and the most obvious change is this: we speak English. Why that you may ask? Because with this little change we want to reflect the reality of commercial film crafting in 2021 and 2022. Most ad agencies are ruled by diverse and multi-lingual teams, bringing a fresh view on the world and on Germany to the table. And the same is true for the talent behind the camera, the cast and everyone involved in the post-production. German advertising films have been multilingual and international for a long time. And many German agencies are producing films for Europe and the World. 

As one of the most respected moving images awards in Germany we want to honor this reality by talking in the one language that unites all creatives: English.
